US Chemicals Manufacturer Solenis Targets India to Increase Business

US-based specialty chemicals manufacturer Solenis has acquired Connell Bros Company India Private Ltd (CBC India) which specializes in manufacturing chemicals for the pulp and paper market. Formerly known as Ashland Water Technologies, Solenis is looking forward to expand its business in India. The company specializes in manufacturing chemicals for the industries such as biorefining, chemical processing, mining, oil and gas, power, pulp and paper.
John Panichella, the president and CEO of Solenis explained that with India being the fastest growing pulp and paper manufacturing country in the world, his company wants to increase its footprints in India and cater to the Indian customers. India produces 10.5 million tonnes of paper and represents a huge opportunity for Solenis. The company had been working with the CBC India team for a long time and acquisition of CBC India will help it to expand its business in the region.
Through this aquisition deal, Solenis has acquired all the assets and business of CBC India, including its technical and sales expertise as well as its operations associated with manufacturing of AKD emulsion. Nandkumar Dhekne, the vice president of Asia Pacific region of Solenis, mentioned that the company is committed to continuous investment in the paper and pulp industry and aims to build strong relationship with the Indian customer base.
Implementing its India-centric business strategy, Solenis has opened its India head office in Pune. The Pune office, started in February 2015 will act as the primary centre of the company’s operations for paper business.
