Apple, the world’s leading electronics vendor, introduced as upgraded version of its existing smartwatch on Monday, September 11, 2017. According to the company, its smartwatch is currently the most sought-after watch across the world, much ahead of its competitors, such as Fossil and Rolex. “The Apple Watch has attained the top position in the world,” said Tim Cook, the chief executive of Apple, at a media event held at the ‘spaceship’ campus of the company in Cupertino. “The sales were up by 50 percent in the last quarter from the previous year,” added Cook. However, the details about the sales figures has not been provided till now.
The new series of Apple watch will feature cellular connectivity in order to enable users to remain connected without a mobile phone. It will allow the user to attend phone calls, listen to music, and operate other functions without using a smartphone. The Apple Watch 3 will be of the same size as the series 2 watch but the display will also work as the antenna. The company stated that the Series 3 watch will also provide several applications to help in detecting various health problems in the user, such as heart arrythmia. Two models of the Series 3 Apple Watch has been launched. The first one is with GPS and cellular services, both; however, the second model has GPS only. The model having cellular connectivity starts at US$399 and will be made available in 9 nations from September 22, 2017.
