Australia headquartered Ramsay Health Care has announced its joint venture with China’s Jinan University No 1 Affiliated Hospital to set up several new private hospitals in Pearl River Delta, China.
Australia’s largest private hospital operator confirmed the venture with one of China’s leading medical universities on Thursday.
Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care is a partnership between Sime Darby Berhad and Ramsay in Indonesia and Malaysia and is considering the potential of the joint agreement with the Chinese hospital group.
Jinan University is one the most prestigious and oldest universities in China and operates an 850 hospital bed hospital in Guangzhou city.
In a press release Ramsay said that Jinan University is an elite medical institution that is under the direct allegiance of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
The media release added that it relies on the long established, centuries old Chinese Jinan University that undertakes product development, medical treatment, healthcare, scientific research, and teaching as one of the many AAA public general hospitals.
Located in South China, Guangzhou is the biggest city in Guangdong province and also its capital. While South China has a population of more than 104 million people, the population in Guangzhou stands at 13 million.
Ramsay said that both the parties intend on setting up several high quality hospitals of international standard in China’s Pearl River Delta together with medical institutions state-owned by China.
Ramsay Health Care was founded by the late billionaire Paul Ramsay and is reportedly one of the largest private hospital groups in the world. It treats nearly 3 million patients every year and operates 212 hospitals across Australia, the UK, Indonesia, France, and Malaysia.
The Chengdu Jinxin Healthcare Investment group operates five hospitals across the city of Chengdu.
