Advancements in digital technology have positively impacted all spheres of life. The construction sector too have been influenced by the modern digital world as the government has mandated Building Information Modelling (BIM) for all the projects that are publicly funded in the next year.
The companies in the North East have a huge pool of expertise and talent in the niche technology along with an awareness to win more construction contracts in the region. The people are certain that the existing skills sets will feed the jobs and add to the national reputation. Owing to these regions several important players in the business have joined hands to encourage digital construction and to develop the area as a center of excellence.
Dynamo Build, which runs under the IT operations Dynamo North East will guide this construction effort by helping specialists collaborate to bring in talent and retention of skills.
The founding members of this move are NBS/RIBA Enterprises, Kykloud, Space Group, Viewpoint Construction Software, and BIM Academy, a joint venture between Ryder Architecture and Northumbria University.
This group has garnered support from institutes such as the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), Construction Industry Council North East (CIC NE), and Constructing Excellence North East. They will work as a virtual team to create an awareness about the possible growth this region can witness in the area of digital construction field, both internationally and nationally.
Rob Charlton, chief executive of Space Group stated presently more than 84% construction in UK is done out of London, while North East creates just about 0.3%, which significantly low.
