Bob Marley once said, “Herb is the healing of a nation, alcohol is the destruction”. Marijuana or cannabis is consumed mostly to feel intoxicated. Apart from that, it is also used for medical purposes, such as for patients with poor appetite or nausea. It may also be used for cancer and AIDS treatment and is legal in some places like California, Amsterdam, Argentina, and a few selected states of United States. However, marijuana is most likely consumed by the young generation for their party modes and chilling time. Marijuana may be consumed in many ways, like rolling the leaves into a joint, electronic cigarettes, and nowadays even in vape.

Survey Report States Teenagers Start Smoking from Their Ninth Grade

According to a recent survey done on students in the U.S., 1 out of 11 students has reported to smoke marijuana in electronic vapers and cigarettes to get high. E-cigarettes usually contain nicotine but most of the devices running on battery can vaporize other substances like marijuana.

According to a different survey done on 20,000 students by the University of Michigan, in 2017, similar results were found where 8 percent of 10 graders agreed to be vaping over the past year. Researchers stated that the health risks of vaping is not only limited to the misuse of vaping devices but may get extended to the social environment where these people usually stay. Children who vape are more likely to start using drugs and befriend drug users. Vape and other smoking device production is increasing by the day and manufacturers are making enormous profits.

Manufacturing Companies Received Warning by FDA Administrators

Health officials are alarmed regarding the rise in usage of e-cigarettes by teenagers, since it may gradually result in cigarettes and then alcohol consumption. The increasing number of teenage marijuana smokers is something to be worried about because the use of cannabis can adversely affect learning and memory and may hamper their academic achievements.

However, the Food and Drug Administration announced early in the month of September 2018 that since vaping among teens has reached epidemic levels, manufacturers have to find way to reduce underage usage or they will be shut down. Although marijuana has medicinal properties and is considered less harmful, smoking marijuana among teenagers and youth should be under control. Teenagers need to understand that the good times of today are the sad thoughts of tomorrow, and start to engage themselves in recreational activities like sports instead of drowning in the ocean of intoxication.
