With the ubiquity of smartphones and other electronic devices, information, or data, is now at the backbone of numerous tasks we perform every day. Consequently, cloud computing is fast emerging as the next best thing that will redefine how information is stored, retrieved, and used. Microsoft recognizes this trend and has decided to unveil a program that will specifically focus on aiding European startups. In the recent times, the company has doubled its efforts to support software startups in Europe in order to gain ground over the competition in the cloud computing market.

A new Berlin-based four-month long program by the company will particularly aim at the startups who have managed to raise initial funding. In addition to that, the company is also making software for some of the most promising segments of cloud computing, such as manufacturing factories, connected vehicles, artificial intelligence (AI), computer assisted vision, and blockchain databases.

Microsoft Accelerator Program Offering Lucrative Opportunities

Each of the participant in this new Microsoft program will be given US$500,000 as credits on Azure cloud computing, besides an access to outside investors as well as technical expertise and sales team of Microsoft. The program will include assistance for product development and management training.

It must be noted that this is not the first foray by the Microsoft accelerator program in Europe, as it previous focused primarily on travel portals. This move is a clear indication of Microsoft feeling the heat of the cloud computing competition coming from some of the prominent rivals such as Google from Alphabet Inc., Amazon.com Inc., Oracle Corp., and Salesforce.com Inc.
