MedPlast to Establish Fourth Healthcare Products Plant in China

Arizona based MedPlast Inc. has decided to set up its fourth unit in China, making it the 11th plant worldwide.
MedPlast announced on Thursday that it will be setting up a new health care products plant of 20,000 square feet in the last quarter of 2015 in Suzhou, China.
Barbara Glenn, vice president of marketing at MedPlast, said in a phone interview that the company is expanding keeping in mind an existing customer. As the customer expands, the company aims to grow with them.
The Tempe, Arizona based provider of custom plastic processing solutions for medical applications has already placed an order to 12 fully electric injection presses from Chen Hsong. These presses come with clamping forces ranging from 50 to 200 tons and will be installed in a present plant that MedPlast owns but has not been in use. Barbara Glenn said that the company will also set up custom designed blow molding machines that will be relocated from the anonymous customer.
Workers in the new facility will be involved in molding, assembling, and packaging medical goods that the vice president did not reveal owing to confidentiality clauses.
The other three MedPlast plants in China include a custom non-medical molding operation unit, a medical mold manufacturing facility, and the one in Suzhou. The Suzhou plant is involved in molding and assembling health care products in a 115,000 square foot area, with three Class 100,000 clean rooms and 22 all electric injection presses with clamping forces of 610 tons.
Vice president of MedPlast Barbara Glenn estimated that the company will generate an approximate of US$ 300 million in global sales in this year alone. The rest of MedPlast’s manufacturing units are located in Elkhorn, Wisconsin; Chicopee, Massachusetts; Monticello, Iowa; Fremont, California; West Berlin, New Jersey; Tijuana, Mexico; Bacup, England; and Westfield, Pennsylvania.
