More Insights into Instagram’s Time Well Spent Tool
Facebook sub-company’s CEO Kevin Systrom confirmed the launch of this tool last month, after reports emerged about a prototyping activity being carried out that involved a Usage Insights feature. According to Systrom through a tweet, the company is building a tool that can help the IG community to know more about the time they spend on Instagram. This is mainly being done to make people aware of how online time impacts other tasks and responsibilities, majorly affecting their life on all fronts.
The currently unlaunched version of Instagram’s Usage Insights tool offers users a daily tally of their minutes spent on the app. Users can set a specific time spent daily limit, and even get a reminder if they exceed that. A shortcut will also be provided to manage Instagram’s notifications, in order to make it less interruptive for the app. Instagram also is testing a new hamburger butto n that opens a slide-out navigation menu on the a users’ profiles. In this menu, the link for Usage Insights might be fitted in.
After much speculations, this is a highly useful way by which users can monitor their own time spent on the app, and hence be aware of the same. Currently, this seems to be a trend that most tech companies are introducing time usage controls. During the forthcoming years, we actually might see stricter control measures being implemented.
