The cold blended beverage platform just got added competition. Chasing the sale of Starbucks and McDonald’s is the Canton based Dunkin’ Donuts. The fast food giant has announced that it will start rolling out new blenders at all its restaurants across the United States.

The blenders will form a new platform for beverages offered at Dunkin’ Donuts. The list will include smoothies made with fruit and yogurt, a Frozen Dunkaccino, and Coolata Lites.

A few select Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants in North East U.S. will start introducing the new blended beverages in February itself. All the products will be rolled out steadily across the country within the coming year.

The Dunkin’ Donuts president of global marketing and innovation, John Costello, said that while the company continues to expand its brand and product strategies, they have experienced a great deal of success. They have created innovative additions including the dark roast coffee, steak, and the croissant donuts. Adding the new blenders to the mix will give Dunkin’ Donuts a great opportunity to reinforce their leadership in the beverage sector and help attract new customers.

He added that the new list of drinks available at Dunkin’ Donuts include smoothies made out of real fruits and yogurt, along with lighter calorie-conscious versions of their popular Coolatta frozen beverages and the Frozen Dunkaccino.

Starbuck’s has been selling smoothies since 2008, while McDonald’s offered then since 2010. The former now offers Greek yogurt smoothies, and McDonald’s continues to sell its fruit smoothies.

Dunkin’ Donuts will sell two versions of their fruit smoothies: tropical mango and strawberry banana. A 16-oz serving of each will have less than 260 calories.
