BMW to Produce Its Electric Vehicle in New Factory in Hungary

German Automaker, BMW recently announced that the company is looking forward to build a new factory especially for manufacturing electric vehicles. A lot of analysts mentioned that the giant automaker, finally geared up its game by entering into electric vehicles business. The factory is expected to be built near Debrecen, Hungary. This factory is said to have a capacity of manufacturing 150000 units of vehicle in a year, mentioned a source.

The company plans to manufacture plug-in hybrids, all electric vehicles, and gas powered cars in all of its factories. The company for the time being has added such facilities in few of its factories.

According to Oliver Zipse, BMW AG Member for Production added that in future all the BMW manufacturing plant will be equipped to manufacture conventional as well as electrified vehicles, just like the new plant in Hungary, which is designed to produce electrified and combustion BMW models on a single production line. This will help in producing large number of units, thus satisfying its global demands all across the world.

BMW mentioned that new factory is expected to require an investment of around €1 bn and is predicted to create jobs for more than 1000 employees. BMW picked Debrecen for expanding its production line due to good infrastructure, nearby establiushed supplier network, and decent logistics connections.

Recently, SK Innovation has promulgated their new factory in Hungary which is going to manufacture electric car battery. Another auto manufacturing giant, Audi has started producing electric motor for its super car e-tron Quattro series in Hungary
