Amazon announced its plans to celebrate Prime Day on July 11, 2017 for a duration of 30 hours. The online giant will offer deals starting from 9 pm ET on July 10, 2017 with the deals being added every five minutes or so. The sale will be offered in about 13 countries and its promotions are expected to start latest by Thursday. This is the third time Amazon is offering a mammoth sale to its user. However, the company might find it a bit hard to include all its new Prime customers in the shopping spree as the number has grown drastically over the past few years. Prime members are clearly more important to the company as compared to non-members and they have become a significant part of the growing e-commerce sales in the last three years.
Amazon to Promote its Own Products with Prime Day
This year the company intends to offer ‘hundreds of thousands of deals’ with about 40% of its ‘Lighting Deals’ coming from small entrepreneurs and businesses. The event will be its well-chosen platform to promote products such as Amazon Echo, Alexa-exclusive deals, Amazon Fire TV, and deals on numerous electronics products. Prime consumers are likely to see deals on Amazon Music Unlimited, memberships for Kindle Unlimited, Audible memberships, and a sneak peek into ‘The Grand Tour’ second season.
The deals will also include sale of grocery items with its latest acquisition of Whole Foods. The household items are also likely to have as much as 35% off on various items in the Prime Pantry. Other retailers such as Wal-Mart are expected to tackle this competition by initiating their own sales.
