Synta Announces Its New CEO

The Synta Pharmaceuticals Company has announced the name of its third new Chief Executive Officer since the month of March 2014. Since March the company has been tapped by a former executive of Teva Pharmaceuticals who got associated with the company in the month of December as CEO and take the position of Anne Whitaker. Whitaker left the company and is believed to be heading towards a big multinational pharmaceutical company. On this announcement, investors enjoyed the news on Tuesday morning, as the shares of Synta rose by 2 % after the announcement.The present chief operations officer and executive vice president at Synta, Chen Schor, will be taking over from 7th of May. 

The exit of Anne Whitaker, who was in the top position in the last August, seems to be on friendly terms, as the Chairman Keith Gollust has quoted in one of the company announcement that, the company understands her reason for leaving Synta, which was due to professional and personal goals. And this new opportunity in front of her will allows her to be very much closer to her family.

The Synta Company’s shares have been down for about the third time since Whitaker took has taken over in last August. Nevertheless, although they have significantly climbed their way back in this year on a positive trial data for the company’s key cancer drug named ganetespib.

Whitaker was formerly on the position of a president of a North America Pharmaceuticals Company: Sanofi’s. She took the position of CEO four months later the sudden exit of its longtime associated CEO and founder, Safi Bahcall. Safi Bahcall has founded the company in the year 2002 and has given his resignation unexpectedly in the last year.
