Beijing Design Week hosted "Slow Food Times" summit and Slow Food Festival this week. The event was attended by delegates from across the world, who encouraged to value sustainable production of food crops, diverse methods of cooking healthy food, and using high-quality ingredients.

Slow Food is an international organization that aims to advance the aforementioned advocacies by adhering to the principle “good, clear, and fair”, which is also its slogan. Slow Food is a non-profit institution established in 1986 in Italy. It was brought to China this year after it opened its branch called Slow Food Greater China in association with Qiao Ling as the president. During the first official discussion that held on Wednesday Qiao said that China is a country with a heritage of unique, and delectable delicacies. No matter which part of the country you visit, and no matter which time of the year it is, China always contributes both creativity and tradition significantly to enrich the process of globalizing the food culture. Slow Food intends to protect and enhance the diversity of the Chinese gourmet, Qiao remarked.

Furthermore, she said that after three decades of robust development China is gradually foraying into a new phase, hence this is the best time for the company – Slow Food, to introduce itself in the country. When Qiao was questioned about her experience of working with a global concern in a latest interview, she said that she finds it a very joyful task. The task, Qiao said, demands responsibility and integrity, but also the scope of work will give a lot of happiness since, it is intended to globalize the Chinese food culture. She also said that they hope that anyone who is interested can join the movement.

In the last few days, Slow Food China has already organized two forums where delegates spoke about their respective goals and achievements.
