Ltd. located south China has travelled a long way to transform its labor-intensive manufacturing technique into a capital-intensive one. The process earlier had 650 workers, who were continuously engaged in manual grinding to manufacture smart phones of latest technology. However, the company now gets the work done with the help of 60 workers along who supervise the operations of robotic laborers to get the same or even better output.
The introduction of technological advances not only efficiently reduced the worker cost for the company, but it also resulted in manufacture of products of better quality which are stable and more gratifying than before. Prior to automation, the ratio of reject recorded by the company was 25.2 per cent, however now that the company has entered the post-automation phase, it is enjoying a remarkably reduced reject ration of 4.5%. The quantity of rejects has reasonably dropped across a set of equipment. Moreover, while the manual production capacity for mechanical grinding stood at 8,599, after automating the production process the production capacity of the facility has jumped to 21,511. The information is obtained from the statistics revealed by the company itself.
