Service Contract for Supporting the A400M Airlifter

According to the French and British ministries, a special service contract has been awarded to the Airbus Defense and Space by the UK and France for extending support to the A400M airlifter that is flown by the French Air Force and the Royal Air Force. In a statement it was expressed by the ministry that for the preliminary maintenance and support of the A400M Atlas Military Aircraft, the very first common in-service support has already been awarded.

A Defense Ministry representative stated that the value of the two year British contract is US$261.6 million. And the French contract is for a period of twenty months and is worth 115 million Euros. The deal was signed by France on the 4th of December 2014.

As per senior officials, this contract signed by Britain and France is the result of successful discussions that have taken place for several years and is also a noteworthy milestone signifying greater mutual collaboration between the two nations. The procurement chief of France sees this cross border deal as an opportunity to the commencement of service cooperation with various other countries of Europe. The primary rationale is to work significantly towards collaboration activities and ensure value for money and overall feasibility in the activity areas of support. 

This joint support contract is the perfect example of cooperation via a multinational program that entails the delivery of 170 A400M aircrafts to seven partner countries in the forthcoming years.

Also, the French procurement chief expressed that the A400M contract between the UK and France is like a typical bilateral project that focuses on unmanned missiles and fighters.
