The Assocham is the next-gen step in making economies like India and many others the best in food processing across the world. A recent announcement conducted by the MoFPI has stated that the youth is trained and skilled in the food processing domain to achieve commendable steps towards attaining new goals.
Over the years, there have been climatic advantages, production strengths, and availability of extremely cheap labor force around the world. These factors have however, stood as major challenges underway for the likely potential development of the food sector.
For instance, India’s food processing sector among all the other largest food industries in the world accounts for nearly 10% to the agricultural GDP and the rest is around 9% to the manufacturing segment.
In contrast to the basic farm like skill development levels, the Food Processing segment necessitates more intensive and specific skill sets and capacity building activities.
Assocham appreciates the Government’s support and project ideas to train the young in the consultation with the industry and support the National Skill Development Corporation. This platform is in the effort to meet the required manpower to fulfill the food processing sector needs. The development chamber also supports the operational strategies in the skill development and training initiatives needed to make the right direction and recommendations within the segment.
Some of the targeted food programs are confectionery, dairy, foods, frozen foods, and beverages that facilitate improved learning outcomes among the institute trainees.
The synergy between the private-public partnerships including harvesting the stakeholders’ expertise, universities to be used effectively, research expertise of the research centers and universities and other market orientation methods may be synergized for training effectiveness.
Assocham’s belief in augmenting skill levels and knowledge among the workforce and youth in specific, boosts innovation, mitigate risks, enhances resource productivity, and improves their decision making ability.
