Mercedes-Benz to Launch First Pickup Truck by 2020

Daimler AG, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz has announced the launch of its first pickup truck by 2020. The company has plans to build its first pickup truck in cooperation with Nissan. The launch is aimed to contribute towards global growth targets, as said by Daimler CEO.
The launch of the pickup truck will big that will keep with the brand attributes such as comfort, power trains, value, and safety. The company plans to enter the segment with a niche brand image.
The new vehicle will be manufactured under the aegis of Mercedes-Benz Vans division. The unit works for the automaker’s commercial and private vehicles such as Vito and V-Class. Daimler and Nissan will be working together to build the pickup truck. The basic framework of the vehicle will be provided by Nissan, keeping in line with its Navara pickup truck.
Pickup trucks have seen a surge in the market due to increasing customer preference both for private and commercial purposes. This can be related to increased consumer bend for vehicles that can offer features like that of cars.
Mercedes-Benz has shared some information pertaining to its first pickup truck. The vehicle features includes two rows of seats in the double cab, and other features which are typically found in Mercedes-Benz vans and cars. The pickup truck which is yet to be named will have the company’s proprietary infotainment system known as MercedesMe. The other feature of the truck includes a payload capacity of one metric ton. The vehicle will have power from four or six cylinder engines.
