JetBlue to Accept Apple Pay for In-Flight Food and Upgrade Purchases

JetBlue will soon permit passengers to buy food and beverages in-flight and even seat upgrades by using Apple Pay.

The airline states that it will be the first key U.S. domestic airline to make such procures possible for passengers by using the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Apple Watch, which is initiating in mid-February on selected New York to San Francisco and Los Angeles flights. Every JetBlue flight should be capable to allow Apple Pay, even for the ‘Even More Space’ seating procurements, by June, the airline states.

Apple Pay streamlines procurements due to users do not have to give out their credit cards and they can just utilize their iPhones and Apple Watch to carry out transactions. More than three thousand five hundred in-flight crew members of JetBlue will be prepared with and NFC, that is, near field communication and Apple minis enabled boxes to handle the Apple Pay procurements.

Later this year, JetBlue said that the passengers will be able to buy using Apple Pay through the iOS app in the airline too. Consumers will start seeing Apple Pay, which will\ appear on selected JetBlue transcontinental flights from New York to San Francisco and Los Angeles in mid-February. The mobile payment service will be launched to additional flights commencing in March with all JetBlue flights approving Apple Pay by June.
