The Jeddah International Travel and Tourism Exhibition kicked off on Wednesday and organizers say that the three-day expo will help boost the economy of the city.

The travel and tourism exhibition was launched by support of Prince Mishaal bin Majed, the governor of Jeddah and was inaugurated by the mayor of the city Hani Abu Ras. The Jeddah International Travel and Tourism Exhibition is being organized for the first time together with the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture.

The organizers of the exhibition include the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, 4M event organizers, and the Jeddah municipality. An estimated 150 international and national firms from around 10 countries and approximately 30,000 visitors are expected to participate in the exhibition this year.

Jeddah’s mayor Abu Ras expressed his gratitude towards Prince Mishaal for his help in organizing the event. The Jeddah International Travel and Tourism Exhibition, he said, will not only help in boosting the economy of the country but also create job opportunities for many. Abu Ras also opened his arms to Prince Khaled Al-Faisal who has only recently returned to his post of governor of Makkah. Prince Khaled is presently the adviser to King Salman, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

This is the fifth time that the Jeddah International Travel and Tourism Exhibition is being held and this indicates that the significance of Jeddah as a tourist destination has strengthened, said Abu Ras. The mayor further said that Jeddah welcomes nearly 3 million tourists every year. Around 20 million Umrah and Haj pilgrims also make the city their pilgrim destination every year.
