Global Manufacturers are Adopting Green Resource to Harness Energy

Globally, there has been a significant surge in the natural gas production, which not much long ago was anticipated to be a short-term supply. However, increase in production  of natural gas in the recent years have transformed the concept of electricity generation, introducing the population to a cleaner and more efficient source of energy. Manufacturers who are voracious consumers of energy have emerged as the main beneficiaries. They now have to decide whether they want to harness energy from utilities or they want to generate it themselves.

For instance, Procter & Gamble factory located in the Wyoming County, Pa., is capitalizing on a what one may called onside generation for producing combined power and heat. Under this process the company can benefit from the yield of kilowatt hours energy as well as heat, which is a useful byproduct. Similarly, the facility where Pampers diapers and Charmin toilet papers are manufacturers, harnesses natural gas from Marcellus Shale formation. The use of natural gas is highly reflected in the financial and environmental record of the company.

Reports reveal Procter & Gamble has greatly benefitted from the recent shift in energy consumption to natural gas, since they has witnessing improved efficiency with regards to their onsite operations. Previously, when the company bought energy from central-station utility generators, a significant portion was lost as it travelled through the transmission network. It has been observed conventional energy exhibits an efficiency of 51%, whereas CHP units like the one that at present is used by P&G is likely to achieve 75 per cent of energy efficiency, as reported by ICF international.

Global manufacturers have engaged in the drive to interweave their operations with green objectives. The use of natural gas has been observed as one of the most liked options by the leading manufacturers globally to capitalize on the renewable resource, ensure environmental concerns, enjoy energy efficiency and register cost savings.
