E-retailer JD.com Associates with Sephora in China

The largest online retail sales company in China JD.com has tied up with global beauty products giant Sephora in a move to launch the largest cosmetics store on the e-commerce platform of JD.com.
The teaming up of Parisian beauty Products Company Sephora and JD.com is anticipated to make the competition intense in the online retail beauty products market in China.
As per statistics from Frost and Sullivan, the online sale of cosmetics in China is forecasted to grow 33.2% on an average annually. In doing so, the market which is at 22.6 billion yuan in 2013 is anticipated to reach 94.6 billion yuan by 2018.
The new association JD.com will pose as an immediate threat to the current major business-to-consumer businesses that operate on the platform for online beauty products.
For the new association, the top domestic rivals are Jumei.com, which is the largest online retailer for beauty products in the mainland, Tmall.com of Alibaba Group that boasts of about 19 high-end skin and beauty retail brands on the platform.
On the JD.com shopping portal, Sephora will feature above 1,200 products from leading 70 brands which include Christian Dior, Givenchy, Kenzo, and Guerlain.
Sephora has the aim to provide the best and most trusted cosmetics products to its customers, while also focusing on making shopping an intelligent and fun experience for customers.
Sephora operates brick and mortar stores in mainland, JD.com offers more of online-to-offline spaces through a combination of 123 warehouses and 7 fulfillment service centers spread across 40 cities and 3210 pick-up and delivery stations.
The association between the Chinese company and Parisian luxury beauty products giant guarantees delivery on the same day in 134 districts and counties, and also next-day delivery in 1866 districts and counties in the mainland.
