China is the world’s fastest growing economy. Besides, known for this China is also known as the world’s worst environmental offenders for several years. However, this scenario is changing and the whole situation for China can change a lot sooner than it is expected.
According to new recently released study from the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment based at the London School of Economics states that both China’s economic rebalancing off from polluting, heavy industries and their newfound worry for the ecology are real and have started to produce tangible results sooner than it was expected.
This means the economy is burning less coal and throwing out fewer emission as compared to a few months ago. In past November, in a summit with the U.S. president Obama, the Chinese president Xi Jinping mentioned that he would aim to curb China’s emission by 2030.
The concept of China as ecology conscious country is surprising given that it one of the world’s largest manufacture and has its water and air so polluted that resident of its major cities are now afraid to leave their houses and are also developing respiratory health conditions at a stunningly large rates.
Though, China is one of the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions, this progress can make it possible for the world to meet its target for limiting the temperature growths to 2 degrees Celsius this century, stated the co-authors of the research paper.
The leading industrial nations in the G7 have again confirmed their target during their two-day meeting in Germany. However, they have refrained from making any new, concrete promised for their nations in order to make this possible.
