BIER or The Beverage Industry Environmental Roundtable in its latest media event welcomed the participation of Jackson Family Wines (JFW), which is a leading luxury wine company in a global front, as its newest member.
JFW is renowned for producing some of the highest quality wines of the world. However, this time JFW has received awards for both socially and environmentally responsible practices that it has carried out in North America and Europe.
Till date JFW has successfully saved US$15 mn stemming from the energy efficient initiatives that it took, thus emerging as a sustainability role model in the wine industry. Furthermore, the company is also known to conserve over 11 mn gallons of water every year, and recycles almost 98 per cent of the materials they use in the bottling line.
The savings earned by the winery have enabled it to expand its sustainability efforts further. For instance a 6.5 megawatts of online solar is under development at eight of JFW’s wineries, once complete the endeavor will make the JFW the largest solar energy generator in the global wine industry by the end of the year.
For years, JFW has been providing a unique outlook on energy sustainability, packaging practices, and water conservation. The privately held, the family company also entered into several collaborations within the beverages industry to give impetus to its energy saving endeavors.
Director of BIER, Tod Christenson told that Jackson Family Wines is an extremely significant addition to the BIER family. Since JFW has emerged as a global leading offering best social and environmental practices from operations carried on across four continents, BIER is expecting the company to popularize its perspective on sustainability in the beverages industry.
The Director of sustainability at JFW Julien Gervreau in the meantime said that they were excited to join the BIER family.
